Wild Country - Friend

The new generation of Wild Country Friend brings a refresh to a longstanding name in trad climbing protection. Each Friend retains the established 13.75° camming angle, hollow double axles and milled, un-anodised aluminium lobes. The shaped thumb loop and revised trigger design provide better control, and an added pinhole to help you fight a bit harder for stuck gear!

The main update for 2026 is the new Flow Cord. Its seamless core-and-sheath construction replaces the stiffer sewn sling used on the previous model, allowing smoother extension without a rigid bar tack to catch behind the thumb loop. Each cord extends to 20 cm, helping to reduce rope drag and limit cam walking on wandering pitches. An abrasion-resistant nylon sheath protects the load-bearing core, while a red wear indicator gives a clear visual cue for re-slinging.

Size 4 also gains a spring-loaded lobe-locking system, which holds the lobes retracted for more compact racking, while the range now includes a double-axle 0.3 for smaller crack placements.
