The Gilwern Area is the first, fully comprehensive guide to the wealth of sport climbing and bouldering on the hillsides straddling the village of Gilwern, near Abergavenny. Gilwern Hill has been popular for a long time with climbers from Bristol, Gloucestershire and South Wales, the best of its climbing on top of the mountain with a huge panorama.
The guide has 218 sport routes (144 of which are graded F6b or below) a great many are generously bolted and readily accessible to the majority of climbers. Apart from the new sport crags, and over a 100 brand new sport climbs in its pages, there are also over 125 new trad climbs plus a plethora of unpublished bouldering.
The Gilwern Area is the fourth title in an on-going series of local guides for local climbers' lovingly put together and published by Great Western Rock.
