Blue Ice - Firecrest 38L Pack

The Blue Ice Firecrest 38L is a lightweight alpine pack for long mountain days, winter mountaineering, ski touring and summer climbing. It has enough space for extra layers, food, hardware, rope and seasonal kit, while still keeping a stripped-back shape for moving efficiently on technical ground. The 210D nylon fabric is PFC-free and bluesign approved, giving a useful balance of low weight, durability and ethical material sourcing.

The Firecrest is built around fast access and efficient transitions. The full-length side zip makes it easier to reach kit without fully unpacking the bag, while the 2 litre zipped lid pocket, internal pocket and stretch side pocket keep smaller items close to hand. The hybrid carry system, padded waistbelt and two available back lengths help provide some stability to the pack when carrying winter or ski kit.

It is also well set up for mixed-season mountain use. Dual ice axe holders cover winter tools, while the A-frame and diagonal ski carry give options for ski touring approaches. The removable avalanche tools pocket can be kept in for ski days and stripped out for climbing or summer mountain use, and the pack is compatible with hydration bladders and Blue Ice helmet holder systems.

The 38 litre capacity is useful for bigger days and winter kit, but it will feel more involved than a smaller climbing pack for short crag sessions or indoor use. It is best treated as a technical mountain pack for climbers and ski mountaineers who need alpine features at a low weight.
