The Black Diamond HotForge Quickdraw is a durable sport quickdraw built around two solid-gate HotForge carabiners. It uses a straight gate on the bolt end and a coloured bent gate on the rope end, giving clean bolt clipping and a clear visual target when clipping the rope. The draw is built with an 18 mm polyester dogbone and a Straitjacket insert to keep the lower carabiner correctly orientated.
The HotForge is the more solid, sport-focused option compared with the HotForge Hybrid. The dual keylock carabiners make clipping and cleaning smoother, especially when stripping steep routes or removing draws from bolts. The wider dogbone is also easier to handle than a skinny alpine/trad-style sling. The two solid-gate construction gives strong, clean handling, but it is heavier than wiregate or hybrid quickdraws for long weight-conscious days.
