It works exactly as it is designed and makes up for my bad belay habits. Good looking and nifty. Very useful when teaching beginners and children to belay, as they can panic if a normal carabiner rotates. Would definitely recommend.
Bout this thinking it would solve the problem of cross loading carabiners and the annoyance when they spin. It does this very well. Unfortunately I find it quite annoying when loading the belay device, the bar that separates the belay loop and the ropes etc is attached to the gate and this has to be open in order to move it. I find this quite annoying when I am setting up to belay. When outside it is also far less versatile than a normal HMS as the central bar just gets in the way. Ive gone back to my old belay crab.
There's a few different designs out there for belay carabiners that help prevent cross loading when you're belaying and this does that job admirably. It's not without flaws though. The bar that stops the carabiner rotating feels pretty flimsy and if you're trying to fit a couple of thick ropes in it's not the easiest to use. That said, I'd still recommend, but I think there's room for improvement.
