Black Diamond - Camalot Z4

The Black Diamond Camalot Z4 is a narrow-headed cam designed for trad climbing, alpine routes and multi-pitch protection. Black Diamond’s RigidFlex stem remains rigid while the trigger is pulled, making the cam easier to control during placement, then flexes once released to accommodate directional movement and help reduce walking.

The Z4 carries forward the narrow-placement philosophy of the discontinued Camalot C3, combining a similarly slim head with four sandblasted lobes for increased holding power. This makes it particularly useful in tight cracks, shallow slots and smaller placements where a wider cam can be difficult to seat properly.

Sizes 0 to 0.2 use a single cable and single axle, keeping the trigger profile slim and reducing stem buckling when the trigger is pulled firmly. Sizes 0.3 to 0.75 use dual twisted cables for more even flexibility and a dual-axle construction that provides a wider expansion range. These larger sizes also have passive strength ratings, while sizes 0 to 0.2 are rated only for active camming placements.
