Petzl - Zig Zag
A mechanical prusik for arborism.
The Petzl ZigZag was massively popular when it launch last year with keen aborists buying them up quicker than they could be made. The product recall which followed was a bit less popular however!
That is all over now however and Petzl have a re-designed version with a much stronger eye with an internal rubber insert to hold the biner in place.

I love it. I've climbed DRT on a hitch-climber rig for a while, but really wanted to be able to rappel quickly (because, fun!) and also manoeuvre in the tree without having to endlessly tend the hitch - and long open rappels are tedious if the hitch locks away from a limb. The ZigZag is great. It's like flying. I read on a forum that some people wondered about it gripping the rope in the wet. I have climbed in torrential rain with mine. It was no fun, but it certainly was not compromised. Very pleased with the purchase.
