The medium-sized Squirrel pack is a good middle-ground for day trips. Large enough to be used in most situations without bulk these are a really good all-round option.
This has a well thought out system of external attachments and includes a full rope strap across the top. There are two large water bottle pouches on the sides and a smart top opening design which is great to strap up at belay stations and prevent items from falling out. There is a helmet holder on the outside.
This is also well designed for walking as it has a sturdy and breathable back system and is hydration pouch compatible. There is a removable hip belt.
The sides have straps for either ice tools or walking poles.
